Fuel Gauge Q
ByronBug - November 24th, 2005 at 07:58 PM

I have a bug with a 6volt fuel gauge & sender unit in my tank but running 12volt electics.
So I am assuming the reason for my fuel gauge showing less fuel than in tank, is caused from the voltage being incorrect...is this right?

Dunno....

have owned MANY VW's and NEVER had one where the fuel gauge was brilliant.

Presently the one i have never quite shows full and shows empty after 25 L's
I just fill up every 200 kms or so.

Are you sure they didnt
1) change the sender
2) put a resistor in line??

for the fuel gauge to work correctly it should be running on 6 volts... a resistor should be put in series to drop the 12v to 6v.
