Hi all,
I think the economy thread was done a little while back but I can't find it.
I've just started keeping track of my consumption on my bug and buggy and was after ideas from others, both on whether these figures are OK, and
maybe what figures the engines would have given when new from the factory?
My 69 beetle (standard 1500), desperately needing a tune, comes in at around 10.14 klm / litre (29.2 mpg), most of the driving is around town with a
small amount of highway driving.
My buggy (standard 1600 sp) is coming in at 12.49 klm / litre (35.97 mpg), same kind of driving as the beetle.
How do these figures rate? What figures would a 1500 and 1600 register when they came out of the factory all those years ago?
They are good figures.
My Gregory's manual for a 1303 1600 dp has a copy of the Wheels test and it put the average consumption at 25mpg
My 1916 "stocker" gives 9km/L (25.5mpg)
This is mainly Sydney suburb driving in a 1303 beetle
On a run i get 11km/L ish
Best ever was 14km/L out of a 1776 with Webers from Syney to Newcastle and back. return run on a cool night
