Hi Guys,
I like to fit a 40 hp gear box on a 56 floorpan ,they tell me I have to do some modification to the mountiig.
Can someone please help?

The Ovals had 2 types of front gearbox mounts Depending on which one you have ... you may or may not have to change

Theres a wrap around type mount and this is the type u will have to change, the other type mount will accept the 40 hp gearbox.

with the wrap mount you will have to get a bracket and have it welded in place.

Have you managed to get under neath the car n look at the front mount to see if it wraps around the torsion bar or is the later type. ???

You can buy the later type mount bracket and weld it in place.

I would get an Empty gearbox with out axles and use it to line up the mount before welding in place.... much easier to maniouver into connect position before welding
