Indicator switch wiring
jo_tas - December 15th, 2005 at 08:53 PM

Ok, after having no luck whatsoever finding a switch for my model type 3, i have a beetle one which is pretty similar.

I am trying to wire it up. I have the right hand indicators working, but when i turn the left hand ones on (with the ignition on) the generator and oil lights dim in time with the indicators, and the actual indicator lights (outside) aren't flashing.

I don't know what has happened to it, when i got it back from the panel beaters the indicators were working fine, but after driving it for about 10 mins suddenly the stalk got really stiff and the indicators weren't working.
And also every time i turn the hazard lights on, the fuse blows.

*sigh*

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jo

Start with the basics, and check any earth connections.

What model beetle is the indicator switch from?

Some are listed as a turn signal/combination switch others are listed as direction indicator switch, horn ring, dipper switch and steering/starter lock.

Once you know the model of the Beetle, finding a wiring diagram should be a snap.

Cheers

Rob
