Hi all,

A quick question,

oil light flickers at start up, then gose out ... then comes on & gose out again when i excellerate, the second i back off the excellerator, the light flickes on again .... and there is plenty of oil in the motor ?

do i have a problem or is it just a 6volt gremlin ?

sounds like tired motors.
loosing pressure

Ok, tired motor, you say ... i can belive that, but i was hoping for a bit more detail on the problem than that.

It seems to be driving fine, and the light today is flickering much less ... might the problem be something other than a dying motor, or am i living in denial ?

Also, if it is dying, will this mean a full stripd down & rebuild, or is it chuck it away time and start a fresh? . I would like to try & keep the motor is the original engine.

pull your sender out and clean it or replace it. Often when people put them in they use thread tap and some gets over the hole. Also oil often has crap in it which blocks the hole and plays silly bugger.

If you get worried drain oil, fill up with kero or deiso and turn over a few times to clean it all out, don't let it start so disconect your coil.

Then empy it and put oil back in, you would be suprised how much crap gets in the gallies

get/borrow copy of John Muir - how to keep your vw running.

there is a whole chapter for fixing this issue. In my case it was a faulty sensor.

definatly play with the wiring first... if that doesnt fix it, hope its a worn oil pump
