Flame Throwers
bajachris88 - January 8th, 2006 at 12:41 PM

I saw an advertisment for this in a unique cars magazine, and was like, (drool).

Car flamethowers, costs only $165 for a kit and there is a supplier in VIC, installation takes less than an hour, works best of carbied cars without catalytic converters (YeaH! old dubs :P), and according to the supplier:

QUOTE:

"There is no law against the fitment of our flamethrower kit to your car but they are for off road use only. Cops just don't like these things for some reason???? So to be safe just dont go shooting big flames while your driving around on public roads, having them fitted is fine."

here is their web site. I want a set. :D http://www.flamethrowers.com.au

Or you could get yourself a Y2K motorbike. Watch the front end of the modern plastic fantastic car melt and change shape as they inch closer and closer to the rear wheel.

im pretty sure you can do a DIY version of this, save ya bucks and do some research youll probly find something on how to do it by yourself! i think its just a sparker or something? google away..............

What an amazing co-incidence! I saw a picture of a Porsche recently at the Gemballa website which looked *just like* the one above, except of course the number plate wasn't the same.

Strangely enough, they didn't mention flamethrowers.com.au, must have overlooked it somehow.

spark plug fitted in the exhaust pipe, problem solved:crazy:

bajachris88 - January 8th, 2006 at 04:57 PM

takes more than just that

- Spark Plugs ( of course) but... also (besides wiring and switch)
Relays & Coil (inductor)

The kit comes with all that

Get the kit from Jaycar. I bought a Jacobs Ladder kit from there for the ignition for the jet bike. About $35 I think it was, just add a coil, a spark plug and a switched 12V power source...presto...
The young guy there said it was for a flame thrower as soon as I plonked it on the counter.

No, the combustion in the engine isn't quite complete. There is enough unburnt stuff making it through to allow these flamethrowers to work. We all know that cars cause pollution, well now it's easy to see just how much! These flamethrowers don't work with catalytic converters because the cats "burn up" the pollutants by chemically combining the unburnt fuel and oxygen: that's why the cats get so hot, they release as much heat energy as you see in these flames.

76camper - January 11th, 2006 at 12:30 PM

fair enough, so pretty much all you need is to run a ignition lead to your exhaust pipe and you have a flame thrower? sounds too easy...
