Type 3 Fuel Guage
gtl1955 - January 16th, 2006 at 08:14 PM

I am new to this forum so I hope I am using the correct protocol.

A few days ago my fuel guage for my 1970 Fastback stopped working.

Where shoudl I start to locate the problem?

Also I need to replace my dash - it is badly cracked.

I understand there is a company that repairsss or exchanges dasshes. Can someone tell me the contact details please.

thanks Greg, Canberra

start with the sender unit

Remove the wire from the terminal and hold it to earth on the side of the sender unit or one of the screw heads.

Turn the ignition of and see if the gauge works

if so the wiggle the terminal and refit the wire to the unit see if teh gauge works then its a loose terminal

If not then its the gauge

if the gauge works it could be the sender unit.
You can pull them apart by looking at the bottom and undoing the screw and cleaning everything in there and then put back together.

hey dude, my t3 dash was also crap so i got these guys - http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/index.htm and they did an awesome job. well recommended. i think it cost me $350. and i had the vent opening covered as well and there was a lot of deep gouges. the guy did a lot of hand shaping to get it right and he did.
