Where does the thick lead which comes out from the alternator go? To the battery or to the starter motor?

theres two one with a plug which comes off the alternator and plugs into the voltage regulator on your fuel tank panel (its a little square metal box) the other wire coming off your alternator should have a brass ring which yes goes to the starter through the rubber grommet in your tin ware. i just did all this with my kombi and was very easy so you shouldnt have any problems at all. but let us know how you go!
