window rubbers
blownKombi - March 31st, 2003 at 06:35 PM

i was wondering if therewas somewhere to get the window rubers that wipe the front winding windows. mine are crap but they look riveted in. how do you change them?:??

Not sure about Sydney, but in Brissy you can get them from Mick's, Import advantage and Harding's (check the buisness directory above).
They actually clip in, the rivets hold the rubber to a metal plate. You can supposedly replace them without pulling the doors apart, but I did mine with the sliding glass out of the door, this lets you get at them from inside the door.
It's hard to explain, but if you gently prize between the door and the alum. strip you should be able 'pop' the clips out, start from the rear most bottom edge. The window either needs to be out, or wound down low enough that's below the rubber.
If you have a manual, most show some detail of the strip.
Unfortunately the only replacements I found were Brasilian, and they are CRAP. They look horrible and were a poor fit, but it was that or nothing for me!

The rubber and trim is available complete both L & R new from Vintage Vee Dub Supplies at Campsie. 9789-1777

Cost depends on the year model of your Kombi, these are WCM brand and top quality

The outer scraper n alloy trim are $79.00 + GST each + Ship. No they are not WCM like the beetle type, they are Mexican and very good quality.

But dont forget these are alloy and bend when you just look at them so fitting is the tricky part so they dont bend.
