Am in the early stages of building a new engine for my notch. I have an oil pump cover plate with a built in outlet but with the type3 fan shroud I don't think it will fit or will it?
How does everyone else run their oil filters and/or ext coolers?

it will fit with a little clearancing. I have scaled pics somewhere for a template

Thanks KKK...I'll have a good look when I start the assy. Just stuck my head under the back of my car and thought it would be a bit tight.

Gene Berg has a special cover available fo ttype 3's specifically to overcome this problem.

even with a berg cover you will need to mod the rear engine crossmember

I had to grind the fanhousing to accomodate the berg oil pump cover on my notch. It's the full flow type with built in pressure relief. Make it thin in the crucial spot for the pipe fitting but dont make a hole. If you do make sure to seal it so it's airtight. This was on an early notch without the rear engine support.
