Hi,
I have a 1964 Beetle in reasonably condition. Little Rust. Straight body.
I put in a 1641cc engine with racing components. It doesn't have dual carbies though.
Also included a 1300 transmission. I had the front slightly lowered. I put anti-sway bars front and back. KYB Shockers.
The Beetle drives sweet. Drum Brakes seem good.
I'm not too sure what to do next.
I'm thinking of getting it a proper paint job or reupholster the interior- which is showing their age.
What should I do next? And who knows of a good paint shop?
:alien
alloy wheels
sports steering wheel
disk brakes
highback seats
stereo
the list can be endless depending on your budget
if money is no object...
get every bit of rust removed before the new paint
twin carbies
interior retrimmed
irs
5 speed... etc, etc
Best to look through the members rides sections and see what style and modifications appeal to you.
There are all sorts of possibilities and we all have different preferences!
what sort of driving are you doing with it? daily driver, or weekend racer? Id do whatever rust it has, then better brakes and wheels/tyres. Do the safety stuff first, and worry about the flash stuff last.
Disc brakes.
you really should have some discs up front for safety reasons, and leagally as well.
Other things you can do are listed here

Not too sure about Disc brakes. Is it really suitable for a rear engine mounted car?
I use it for a daily driver- but I work from home- so I dun drive very much.
Other stuff that has been done to the Beetle.
I got Mangel rims. with appropriate new low profile tyres rubbers .
12volt electric conversion.
um... larger fuel pump... etc..
I'd love to get new front seats. I like ones with good lower back support but haven't found one that I liked yet. Does anyone know of a shop that
installs them well and for a good price?
I heard that A.VW.PC in Bayswater does good resto work. Anyone know of a good car fixer here in Victoria?
