Hey guys, I'm suffering a lot of pad knock off in my Vee which is a real pain in the arse as I have to pump the pedal leading into a corner. To counter it at the moment i'm just pumping the pedal on the straight but as you can imagine, this kind of throws your concentration and doesn't give you the greatest trust with your brakes!

I've had the discs machines, etc, but still seem to have the problem. There doesn't appear to be a leak in the brake lines so I don't think air is getting in the system.

Any suggestions??

I use to get the same thing when rallying my suby. There are a couple of things you can do (which are legal in rallying but I dont know about Fvee). I ran a spring/clip which fitted into the back of the pad and between the caliper, its designed to keep pressure between the pad and caliper. I also had an anti knock system which basically involves usinig a bike pump to pressurises the braking system. In basic terms you pump air into your master cylinder. This had to be done after every stage/service depending on how much you used the brakes. This didnt stop knock off totally though.

Hm, I think the clip idea would be legal and not a bad idea!

Unfortunately no. The only thing I can suggest is go and have a look at a PRC or Group A rally car and see how it works yourself.

What calipers are you using pringa? Also is it the front or back mostly?

I got the calipers and discs from Richard Holzl (Volksparts is it??). Had them machined, etc, so everything was aligned, and still having the problems. I'll be replacing the brake lines soon, i'm not sure if air is getting through maybe? I dont know if the issue is front or back, all i know is that I lose the pedal, and have to pump it back to life. When I bleed the brakes though, I can't see evidence of any air.
