Hi Guys,
I have just put some reco'ed heads on my motor an after installing new rocker assembly went to check the valve adjustment. On TDC with distributer pointing at No 1 the exhaust valve is already opening!WTF?
Any ideas?

Are you sure the dist is incorrectly installed?

Cheers Dave

T.D.C may not be marked in the correct position on the pulley

the dizzy drive may be in 180 degrees out (installed opposite way), may be it is no. 3 that should be firing.

are the two rockers on number three cylinder both "rocking" as you turn the engine back and forth past what you think is TDC?

turn the motor another 180 degrees

B4 u rip things out etc, try rotating the eng by hand or getting someone to do it while you watch what the rockers r doing on no. 1 pot. The cycle is of course (if u'll excuse the double entendre) "suck, press, bang, blow" with the spark occurring at the press stage when both valves r shut. That will expose any errors in TDC marks etc.

Well got it sorted.Seems i forgot to allow for the swivel feet adjusters that are fitted to the new rockers. As i screwed the rocker assembly down it was holding inlet and xhaust open!So I shimmed the rocker arms up and checked for valve bind. I found three bent pushrods!I did notice the pushrods are very close to, if not touching, the inside of the pushrod tubes. Is this normal?
Thanks for all the advice.
