Has anyone successfully changed the rear shift coupler in situ??
I have done it when i changed the bushing as well on a 74L bug but i have a sloppier-than-i-would-like-change at the moment on my 75L bug.
Now...... why not pull the gear stick??
Well for starters it is a 75L that has 3 point seats. And the seat adjuster thingie woul have to come out as it is mounted on the tunnell.
Additionally the carpet kit, while being a brilliant fit, is different to whati normally have had as in there is a piece that covers the tunnell and
goes under the hand brake cover. I have put a hand grid (VK Commordore - brilliant addition!!) which would make taking the hand brake cover off
difficult to say the least.
Finally - i have a custom console cup holder which would also be a pig to change.
Now..... considering how i get grease EVERYWHERE when i work, and considering my interior is immaculate - i aint kean on pulling it all.
What i was wondering was if i could just take the through bolt out and change the rubber blocks with poly and put the bolt back??
I aint pulled the seat out to have a look - was just wondering before i start spreading the greae??
Thanks
Barry
Its easy Barry. Plenty of movement in the linkage to remove the coupler.
