Can I just use a stock coil with the use of an alternator? ie: I don't need one with a ballast resistor ar anything do I?

No worriss - alternator has nothing to do with ignition, really...

Oh, and do all alternators have an internal regulator?

Bizarre - February 22nd, 2006 at 11:30 AM

no

there is an external type (1974 ish) and internal type (1975+)

The external type has a small 3 pin plug on the top and the reg lives under the back seat.

the internal type has a single small post on the top

the picture is an external type

So is this an external one then? If it is, do I just run the same regulator as I was running with the generator?

Bizarre - February 22nd, 2006 at 12:33 PM

Yep

That is an external reg one

if you look at the picture i posted the thing next to it is the regulator that went with it.
So, i am guessing it is different to your genny regulator.

Sorry - i have sold it so i cant tell you what it was.
