Hi, i m currently having problem on the fuse of the interior lights n trunk light...as well as the digital clock, the fuse is located on no. 21 of fuse box on my golf mk3 GL, but no idea how to trace it. can anyone tell me how please? n also my engine rev meter only stays at 1,000 when engine is turned off, had to turn it back on the electric to make it back to 0, is it alite?? thx!
A fuse is there so that it is the weakest link in the elctrical setup thus if anything happens the fuse is the one that blows. This is due to it
drawing too much current. There are two reason for high current draw (outside the normal situation anyway.)
1. connection have got old and corrodid/tarnished. this increases the resistance in a particular run and thus will either drop the voltage
dramatically and thus increase the heat in the line. most of the time this will be at the fuse box. Take the fuse out and clean the contacts of teh
fuse box.
2. a wire is hitting ground thus creating a dead short. his can be anywhere. irst thing I would do is remove the interior light globe. remove the
fuse and grab a multimeter and measure between the fse (run side and the bo, s t a dead shortf s the wire is toching the body somewere. to ind the rn

isolating the circuits attached to the fuse. when it stops being short that is teh ciruit to look closer at. if it remain then it will be a more
indepth look at each wire feed, this can take a long time.
Be patient, it does take time to find faults like this.
