bond - March 16th, 2006 at 05:09 PM

hello all....

whilst retorqueing the heads on my type1 as41 engine case i have managed to 'over' torque and in doing so snapped a new case stud. the break has occured on the thread that goes into the case (lucky me) and i have about 2mm of thread/play out of the case....

i need to get it out and would appreciate any help.....

have already cried, thrown a tantrum and began praying many hours ago....

thanks...

Wow you must have over tightened it heaps for it to snap,
If you drill a hole into the end of the stud and use an easi out, it should come out with out too much trouble.
Good luck

easy out for sure, take you maybe 10 mins, take ur time tho and make sure u get the hole in the middle of bolt and not to one side... take your time and it should come out easy as, not a big drama.

you could try filing some flats on the side of it and clamping a set of Vice Grips onto it and undoing

Also apply a little heat might help n spray some penetreene on as well.

Would be better if the engine was apart
