gearbox issue

hi all,

have a 68 1500 beetle box, the spring on the arm that holds the clutch cable broke - have purchased a replacement but can i change it with the box in the car? with the engine in the car?

have been told there is a circlip that allows you to take the arm off? is this a relatively simple proceedure ie: off and on? with just sitting the spring in the relevant grooves for it?

thanks

nick

Real crappy job with the engine in the car but it can be done.
Probably spend less time and heaps less frustration removing the engine.
Tranny can stay put.
Yes fairly straight forward with a couple of suitable levers and some circlip pliers.

Easy........just take your left rear wheel off and you have access.

Yep, should be able to do it with the car jacked up. (Just let the exhaust cool down or you'll burn yourself like I did!)
