Carb synchronisation
Nitram_Ztilad - April 8th, 2003 at 05:12 PM

Does anyone have any words of wisdom for someone trying to synchronise the carbys on a 2.0l Kombi ? Is there a trick tool available other than using vacuum gagues ?

a "synchrometer" or "unisync"

What sort of carbs are you talking - Webers or Picts?

I could babble on and tell you but read AC,net's story first then come back and ask questions

If you have the stock solex carbs with the central idling system a syncrometer WILL NOT help.
Disconnect the right carb linkage
look down the throat of the carb (after opening the choke ) if the throttle butterfly has a small hole in it then you just adjust both carbys so that the butterfly is fully closed(the screw will just contact the stop)
now adjust the length of the right carby linkage rod so that it can be reconnected without moving the carb lever.
Carbs are now syncronised
proceed to tuning.
