clutch shudder...
Anthiron - April 23rd, 2006 at 02:38 PM

recently put my 1600 back into my baja. this involved rebolting the clutch on.

car has developed a little bit of a shudder when letting out clutch.

how tight should the clutch bolts be?

if theres a bit of oil on the clutch then can i clean it off with something?

Nick

hey when you installed the cable back onto the box the thick rubber tube the cable runs through near the box end, should have a decent bend in it, as if it is straight shudder will result.. had the prob before.. have a look, usually not to hard to rectify..
usually when oil gets on my clutches i chuck em and get a new one (now there not that dear compared to pulling motors in and out to try n fix em) cause when they heat up the oil will always come out of it.. god dammit.... again you could light it up and try n burn the oil off... :(
good luck nick, paul

did you use a clutch/flywheel aligning tool?

clutches should be handled like glass from the sides?

mine shudders a bit aswell, its slowly getting better. I thought it might have had something to do with those springs on the clutch plate....

could be misalignment of the plate, oil on the plate or just temperamental

i used the ol' "one eye closed have a good look at it.....yeah thats straight" technique.

slid onto the shaft straight away no hassles.
