Hey all, hoping you can help me out.
I've got a Type 3 engine from someone a few weeks back. A mate picked it up from someone who didn't tell them the engine size.
The engine was running when taken out of a donar car which was running and in working order.
I have checked out the engine and it's not "hot" so that's always a plus.
My questions is, how can I find out the engine size if the only thing to go off is the engine number?
The engine has all the bit and peices attached, even has twin carbies and exhuast/heater attached.
I want to sell it and be able to put the correct engine size.
Hope you guys and gals out there can help me. I've searched the site forums but couldn't find anything.
Factory size was 1600cc.
You can tell the stock size based on the engine number. This is of course no guarantee that it is still that size. As fas as I know all type 3s can with either a 1500 or 1600 engine. Tell us the number and we can check it.
1500 had a single carby, 1600 had the twins..........
Thanks Craig.
Since the post I'd called around and the twin carbies were the 1600.
I'm in two minds about selling this engine. On one hand the engine is taking up space and on the other the pan cake style 1600 twin carbie engines
are getting hard to find with all the running gear still attached.
Oh the woes...
