Does the Gene Berg 5 speed have the same ratio on the 5th gear as a 'normal' 4th, and an extra gear between
3rd and 4th? Or is 5th really an extra taller gear compared to the normal ratios?
I Looked into this years ago for reduced engine rpm in top gear on expressways, and I was told that 4th goes to 5th and then you select the right combos for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th to give you a 5 speed close ratio box to suit your engine and final drive ratio. So top gear is no taller than what is already available for 4th gear. I was also told if you made top gear any taller than the factory 4th gear, you reeduce engine rpms which reduces fan speed (obviously aircooled engines only) but you increase engine load so you would make the engine run too hot.
so there are five gears on offer with the deal?
