Is there any difference from oval guards to say 60’s model beetle guards apart from tail light setup, what about front lights are they the same. If so what are the differences.

Yes... and no! Ovals don't have holes for the top-mounted indicator, and 60s guards don't have the steel conduit for the wiring harness from the headlight to the side of the spare wheel well on the shell.. there might be other differences, too, but as long as it's not a concours resto, she'll be right

Oval front guards have a steel tube from the bottom of the headlight bucket to the body, and the top of the wheel arch is lower than later guards up to '67.

Rear guards are pretty much the same as later ones, except the tail light position is different.

yea u gotta watch the tail light position on some gaurds
i followed a 71 superbug yesterday that had obviously a rear gaurd from an earlier car as one tail light was nearly 2 inches lower than the other

Oval fenders do have a slightly different shape near the headlights so I'm told, you would think that having a 54 & 64 that I would have checked it for myself but a combination of slackness, not wanting to get the oval fenders down from the roof of the shed and not thinking of it when I'm out there has prevented me from checking for myself :o
It may just be the wheel arch height as mentioned above.

The shape of the rear fenders is the same, yeah tail light holes are all different but that can be fixed if you are painting the car or fenders. I don't know about later ovals but 54 rear fenders do have one nit-picky difference that on the mounting flange there is a raised pressing between the bolt holes, that is missing on 60's fenders. Not a big deal really as its under the fenders but it is different... Also if you use 60's fenders and dont have towel rail overriders you will need to fill the holes in the fenders for the overrider supports.
