how much end play is there in the main shaft ie if you grab the pulley and try to move it back and forth

Maybe the new pulley is bored incorrectly

My useless suggestion is... don't buy anything more important than funny stickers or gearstick knobs from Empi...

There precision when it comes to important engine parts sucks from what I've heard... even crankases have shonky imprecise mating surfaces betwen halves. :(

Yes, since the demise of the genuine EMPI many years ago....
there are many copies....
Most made in Taiwan or China....

Wolfsburg Automotive in Victoria have the EMPI trade mark and have quality goods....

The poor quality EMPI stuff orginates from a big aftermarket VW store in the US....

I just replaced My alternator pulley with a nice new gold one.... and when it was done up... it went onto the alternator so it wouldn't even turn.... a couple of 15mm thin washers were used to make it fit.... My Son had the same problem.....
It seems to Me, its just as easy to make something fit as it is NOT to fit.... I think it was Mexican.....
or maybe chinese...??

Those EMPI crankshaft pulleys look great....
I'm glad I didn't buy one.....
