raised spindles for l+p front ends

because thing fornt ends are so rare i was wondering if anyone was doing raised spindles for link pin front ends in oz i know blindchickenracing do
them in the states but id rather keep the bucks ere if poss

are blind chooks doing cast spindles now or are they doing the cut & offset welded ones.
if you had to have them cast ones would be the way to go but, a cut & turned beam would prob lift you enough??

yeah but raised spindles lift u up without stiffening the torsion bars.
it saddens me to see the stuff u can get dirt cheap in the USA

just checked the sight imared chook site and they still only do the welded spindales. dont know whether i'd be happy on the road or otherwise with
these.items
what we need are some strong legalish cast items

If lift spindles are available in the US, why don't you just order some from the US?... I bring in stuff from the US al the time.... Its usually way
cheaper than buying it here anyway! Shoot.... I bought some CB drop spindles a while back and it cost me just under 300bux landed.... I know you
can't buy drop spindles for that here in Oz!

hmm ok i thought it would as woulfnt you be increasing the sprung tension so thatthe car sits higher?

its more the uncertaintity in the streangth of the sliced and welded items. they look strong enough and the fact that they are selling them no
worries makes it look allright.... but.... i still wouldnt use them on my road lic buggy.
i would find it easier to trust some qual cast items.
with this said thou, a turned beam should give enough for a swb buggy. depends how extreme you feel you need to go...

I don't think anybody is making a cast raised spindle.

I wonder if you could make a restacked LP bus spindle set work?... After all, thats what the factory did with the Country Buggies..... I dont think
welded spindles would get through vehicle inspection anyway.... I know they wouldn't here in WA..... That said.... I know of plenty of off-road guys
that run welded spindles without any problems.... If the welding is good, the crack test is ok and the heat treatment is up to scratch, then there
should be no problems... Appart from the legality issue of course....

no, you are simply moving the anchor point
think of it this way: If I was to put a set of 40mm spacers above the coil springs on (say) a 4WD to rasie it 40mm, would it increase the spring rate?

my dad just finished welding the set of dropped spindles for my bug, and the welds look 3 times the size of those. A guy my dad made a set for once
took them to get x-rayed and the guy doing it wouldnt believe they were welded. He said they had to be cast.

Country Buggy spindles are a one off item specifically for the CB with the steering arm at the top instead of the bottom as per Split Kombi, they use
Kombi K&L components (not restacked) with modified link pins to fit the Beetle trailing arms. It has been a common misconception for many years that
the spindle were Kombi but they aren't.
I would just cut and turn the front end to gain the extra height on a beetle k&l f/end as the CB spidles and brakes add a lot of extra weight.

Yeah, I realise that DB, I was just thinking out loud.... I have owned a couple of CB's in the past... Infact I have a premo example sitting in the
shed... And have owned a couple of splitty's too, but Im wondering how hard it would be to build up a bus set to fit a LP bug beam.... I've
restacked spindles to go lower on a bus, but never to go higher than stock... but really... It would be a whole lot EZR to just reset the leaves.....
