If anyone else has other methods, would be great.
I don't have a running engine, nor an alternator :P Hehe.
Got a BBQ, if that helps lol. As said to a few peoples, i am a nut case.

This is wicked Lol
make ur own TIG welder:

I think its far easier to buy one....
As You can have enough trouble using a bought one....
The diodes in an alternator wouldn't last long iif You used one of those....
as electric welding is a "dead" short circuit.....
Haven't tried the Ozito/GMC small welders with small electrodes but for $99 they look a good alternative to the scraps in the above link you gave.
Better get those guys on Home Improvements etc to teach you how to use it though! They seem to be able to do perfect welds after no practice! The
real world just isn't that easy.
DH
cheers. where did u see these GMC ones?
Both of these brands are in the Bunnings Warehouses Chris. As I said, I haven't used anything under 2.5mm rods in it. If I get time tomorrow I'll
see if I can thieve a few 1.6mm rods from the welders and see how it runs them on 0.8mm sheet. One question! What are your welding skills like?
It's easy for some of us to say how easy it is but one tends to forget that we learned to weld as kids and that was more years back than I'd rather
remember! If you can handle the arc welder it's your cheapest option. I'm rather fortunate with my workplace as well as having all of that gear
at home.
DH
Chris hasn't welded before.
-Staggers.
Good heavens! By the look of the rust in that thing he needs to dip it in a bath of lead to fill some of them rather than weld it up!

A few years ago when i did my mechanic course we had to learn how to weld... i hated it... it was so hard to see what you were doing with the mask...
and i just didn't have the confidence with that much power lol... needless to say i didn't finish the course...
I love welding! Pitty my own welder is only a small arc... But work has a massive 3 phase mig!!!

Chris.
If you U2U me with your snail mail address I will send you a photocopy of an publication I have called, How to Build a High Voltage Power Plant and
Welding Unit. I've never built one, but I bought the plans when I was a hippie on a hill and lived a long way from the power grid.
While I'm at it I'll also send you the plans for a Tesla Coil. Now that would be a lot of fun. I must build one one day. Either that or a Van der
Graaf generator. Playing with electricity is one thing, but playing with lightning would be super cool.
Richard.
hey richard, my bro and i built a Van Der Graaf generator before, was wicked!
Snail mail: 27 Duesbury Cres, Edenslanding 4207 QLD, or mynameischris88@hotmail.com
Would be wicked mate if you could, but if its too much trouble, don't worry about it.
dont use use an arc welder on ur body panels especially if u havent done much welding, u will just turn ur panels into swiss cheese. mig is way easier to use for welding thin metals. look on ebay i have seen migs there for very good prices
buy a going rego'd one that doesnt need a ton of welding.
I will be cheaper
yeah, tis the other idea. i think it might be the case. What kinda $ value u rekon i would be looking at?
i can get around $500 for the baja project if i were to go buy another car that was running on the road.
But i don't know.
