Perhaps you have something in your fuel tank? The guy at Mick Motors told me about this happening to a girl who'd tried everything to find the problem in her kombi. Turns out there was a bottle cap in the fuel tank. Gave all the same symptoms.... He reckons if you don't want to pull the tank (which on the kombi is a nightmare!), you get a bit of thin wire, and anchor it to your fuel filter, thread it through the fuel line and back up into the fuel tank so it protrudes a couple of inches. That should stop anything lodging over the outlet.

(Happened to the victim on "Law & Order" the other night too, only she had a ping pong ball. And of course she got murdered... Thank god life doesn't have to imitate art!)

Good Luck,
Angela.

I reckon that's a great answer! :thumb
The only other thing I can think of is to try yet another coil. :)

I forgot, we cleaned all the fuel lines, and even pulled the outlet off the tank

Hmmm....

Is there fuel in the carb/s when it stops & dies?

Is it happening consistently, or only when going at night, up hills, etc etc?

This problem was my most recent saga with my kombi - I know just how frustrating it can be!

what about spark plug leads? I have had faulty leads give me bizarre problems.

I also had a power wire get cut on a sharp bit of the car, and only touch and short out randomly. when I drove the car the wire would bounce and short out, bringing me to a stop. Then once stopped it wouldn't be shorted so I couldn't find it!

I just spent 2 weekends trying to fix my sisters beetle. We tryed everthing and it turned out to be one dud plug, Check and change your plugs, it just may be that

Leads!
Same thing happened to my gf (non vw tho).
Changed the leads, as well as the rotor button and dizzy cap just to be safe and its run great ever since...

could the carby bowl float be broken or fuel pump problem.
