Hi i have bought 1.25 ratio rockers but am having drama installing them. The rockers are constantly compressing the springs no matter what position
the engine is in (with the adjustment bolts screwed all the way out)
Can anyone help?
Do they have swivel feet adjusters? You will have to shim them out.Find some washers that are the same thickness and put them under the rocker arms. Some of the better quality ones come with an assortment of shims.
Did You get push rods with them...?
As You will need them....
that may be the problem....

You will need shorter push rods to go with the rockers.
I have used standard pushrods with 1;25s. Space them out and adjust correctly,If in doubt whilst the tappet cover is off wind the motor over by hand and check the valve spring doesn't bind, that is compress against itself.
Yes they have the adjusters dow where the pushrods sit. i've used two washers to space the rocker arme out so far and its worked for most of them. Just worried that if i go any further will it put too much stress on the studs NB: they have been changed to chromolly studs.
Didnt get pushrods with them are they a better option?
you need push-rods roughly 5mm shorter than std
That type of rocker with the adjuster on the pushrod,
needs shorter pushrods and lash caps.
This usually comes with the rockers, but you will have to find some if they were missing.
When you set the rockers up on the head you may have to shim to correct the geometry.
Just make sure the pushrod centre line is aligned with the adjuster centre line at half lift,
when you look at the valve train from the end of the shaft.
have a look at these...

Ok whoever posted that last reply has freaked the crap out of me!! i half get whats going on on with the rocker geometry.
If i were to run shorter pushrods and no spacing shims, then set the clearance gaps to the standard .040" will the engine run right?
Does anyone know where i can get shortened pushrods or that adjustable pushrod tool on the samba forums??
Shorten your std pushrods to suit.
Put your standard rockers back on...
Depending on the springs and cam you have,
you may be able to shorten your stock push rods.
If you geometry is really bad it can wear your vave guides faster,
but that will most likely be the worst that can happen.
Unless of course, the springs are binding at full lift.
You set your valve clearance to stock or your favourite clearance.
You can make an adjustable pushrod with an old stock one and some
threaded rod...but this may bend if you rotated the engine over with it.
Again, this depends on the spring and cam lift you have.
Take your engine to a shop that knows what there doing to have them fitted correctly
cool probably going to have to thanks
