broken clutch tube
oldnslo - July 27th, 2006 at 12:11 PM

while stripping down floorpan of 56 bug I noticed the clutch tube is broken just under handbrake , should I just sleeve it between the two pieces, or replace the whole thing while it is stripped.
strange that it broke there or maybe someone did it to aid in clutch cable replacement.

It's common problem, cut a piece out from under the tunnel to get access, sleeve the tube, then replaced the patch, with a nice tidy up no one will know its been done. Check out the "inside the tunnel pics" at my club site, to see what it looks like in there.

Its unusual that the clutch tube would break inside the tunnel??

How or what made you look in there, are you sure its the clutch tube or the hand break cable tubes ??

Sleeving as per above would be the strongest method to repair

I thought it was unusual too, I am stripping down the floorpan to be sandblasted and when i started pulling out the clutch cable I could feel the broken half of the conduit coming with it.
I looked thru the hole where the hand brake goes and could see a clean break.
Something I didnt need, cutting a hole in the tunnel.
