Hello there

I've recently bought a 58 Beetle which is now registered and in use as my daily driver.

I'd like to try and fit anchor points in the rear so that I can fit a standard baby seat to occasionally transport my 2 year old son.

Does anyone have any experience of doing this in terms of the best way of doing it? I'm in Melbourne so if there are any of the Vdub garages that anyone can suggest i'd appreciate it.

Just in case anyone needs this I found a couple of places that can do it. Engine fit in Brunswick and one of the Toyota dealers in Elizabeth st. It's not cheap though. They have to drill holes and fit brackets and for a lap seat belt and then a bracket for the top anchorage point.

I'm a bit concerned about drilling holes in my lovely old bug so may have to stick to transporting junior in the family car.

Best to find a 1964> beetle with seat belt anchor points and see where they go and just put a piece of 4 inch long steel angle under the body then drill a hole thru it and put the nut on the underside...
Seat belt bolts are special items... You can probably buy them anywhere... You get bolts from old cars but getting the Nuts is the problem as they are welded to the body of cars... If You need a hole, just drill it... IMHO...
My Son won't let me drill holes anywhere in his car... Was very difficult mounting relays when I rewired it...
You can always put a plug in the hole later on...
or bolt the car seat to the bottom of the floor under the rear window... it won't hurt being down there... and none will notice... except You... lol...:P:P
