Running in timetable?
LittleRalph - April 28th, 2003 at 08:45 PM

After all the great input from a month or so ago I successfully (couldn't find a graphic of crossed fingers) replaced the 1300 top end of my beetle with new 1600 P,C and heads.

I'm now running straight 30W oil with no additives as suggested and have been driving roughly normally for about 700Ks. What comes next on the running in schedule? Valves when, oil change, oil type?

BTW I just worked out the U2U bit. Sorry for not replying to those I received earlier. Could have had a cheaper rebuild, my loss.

You can now adjust the tappets clearance, and replace the oil.

Use what ever oil you have been using before the rebuild.

Also check the timming and fuel mixture if you have access to an analiser.

Dave left a bit off - Enjoy!!! :D

The rings on modern pistons don't need a real run-in; once they're bedded you can drive normally (unless you're doing a lot of freeway running, in which case you should rev the engine occasionally to extend the pattern on the cylinders.)
