I would like to thank everyone for there feedback so far.
What I would like to know if getting the heaterboxes powder coated on the 36hp would last or would there be to much heat in them ?Would the rest of the tinware be ok?Or would ceramic coating the heater boxes be the way to go?

What about 2pak paint ,may be a bit cheaper and being under the car a bit more chip resistant?

I've only ever had a pair of roofbars powder-coated, but I was less than impressed. A cheap paint job would have been more durable and a LOT cheaper. If you are going to spend the money, get them ceramic coated.

i gotta agree with sandkombi, powdercoating looks great and is VERY durable as far as rubbing etc is concerned, but as it is allpied with no undercoat it chips EXTREMELY easily

It looks like the tinware will be painted with 2pac paint and the heaterboxes will be ceramic coated .I only want to do this once I dont want to be getting chips fixed any tine soon. Does anyone know what the factory finish was?:bounce

Pretty sure it was just the same finish as the rest of the tin on the engine. I have a coule of 36hp engines in the shed. One has the black engine colour on the heater boxes and the other just has rust.
Black VHT heat proof paint would be ok for these I reckon. Pretty tough stuff after its baked on.

I have powder coated heater boxes that I did about 8 years ago, they look the same as the day I put them on.
The only way to go I think.

My cookies were powder coated.
Ok - i have only had then for 7,000 kms but they are fine.
Wash clean easily and definetiley no chips.

Obviously good and bad suppliers.

What about polyuethane paint , iam not sure about the heat effecting it, or black chrome ???
