1600 box ---> 1800 engine

Hi guys,
I have an 1800 in my 75 kombi and at the time had a good 1600 box out of a bug. Now I want to install them both but the problem is do I have to make any changes to the shifter rod (I don't know the name of it but the part that comes out from the bottom of the gear stick and mates to the front of the g'box) or will the length be fine?

Thanks in advance

The length should be fine, but I think you will have issues with the size of the 1800 flywheel and the size of the bellhousing on the 1600 box. I think (I stand to be corrected) the 1800 flywheel (I guess this is a type4) is 220mm and the 1600 flywheel is 200mm so check to make sure it fits. I think I read somewhere a 200mm flywheel can be adapted to a type4. Check it out.

The beetle box is totally different to the bus one... You need a 1600 bus box.
1600 and 1800 flywheel is the same outer size on the flywheel.
The 1800 clutch is 215mm. 2L is 228, and bigger outer diameter flywheel
Ive sent you a u2u

1800 type 4 is 215mm clutch and 2 litre type4 is 228mm clutch surface.
