76' kombi wiring problem
kevo - November 10th, 2006 at 12:08 AM

hey guys, i need ideas,

i have lost power to the ignition wire underneath the steering column. I broke into the wire here to run my accesories like oil pressure, water temp n other gauges, n thermo fans, and now nothing!

i used the multimeter and there is no current coming from this wire when the ignition is switched on.

BUT... i can still start the engine no worries.

i have cleaned the loom connecters under indicator stalk in the case it was a bad contact but still nothing.

any help or random ideas would be great.

if i cant go any further its off to auto sparky's so they can take a weeks worth of my hard earned student wages haha

cheers guys

fuse??
that would be my first guess. This wire should come from the fuse box not direct from the ignition.
Double check all the fuses, if they are all ok, I would start tracing back up the wire to where it starts.
That is all they will do, and yes maybe for a few weeks of your wages!!
Are the fans running relays??

yer you close,

it was a build up of crap in the fuse slot causing a bad connection,

always start with the simple things!

"the thigh-bone is connected to the knee-bone and the knee-bone is connected to the leg bone and the leg-bone is connected to the foot bone" Etc

Good to see you isolated the issue!
