Whilst servicing the split SC, I found one of the grease nipples ( the one for the king pin) was not passing grease. Every other time this has happened to me, it was just a simple changeover of the nipple & off we went again- not this time! I've removed the nipple & squirted WD40 in & swung the steering back & forth but no success. I'm ready to try heat- not oxy, there's rubber in there- but I've one of those hot air guns. Any other ideas? I'm using a decent McNaught gun attached to a 5kg bucket.
First of all try the gun hooked up to the nipple by itself.
grease should go through this and if not find a new nipple.

Upper king pin dave - not link pins and
busses do have rubber seals in the king
pins....
You're doing this with the front end off the ground george? try the nipple alone
as dave suggests...
still no go? hmm - not good. If the bushes have been done
the grease hole may be misaligned meaning no grease in king pin and rapid bush wear...
If you want to pull it apart as a preventative
thing I have a press and a tool....come round and we'll pop it....

Thanks, Rob. I didn't do the front end, but I'll check to see if new bushes were put in & take it from there.
Dave, OK I admit I recently mis-diagnosed a shredding clutch cable for collapsed p/plate (& dropped an eng unnecessarily)but I'm a bit too
long in the VW-tooth to not spot a blocked nipple!!
How's the beer going down tonite???:beer
beer is always good.
Just making sure you new about nipples... nipples are always good to play with. and they need to B lubricated.
I just re thunk my front ends...
yes there is a rubber O ring seal in there isnt there. Link or kings i always get them wrong way round..
as Rob said if it was re bushed maybe they didnt drill or align grease holes...
might be better to pull it apart n re check n stuff a old coat hanger down the grease galliers. much cheaper than re bushing
but you can loosen of the bolt n back the pins of and try that .. i usuall do that with mine when i grease them
