Oval tie rod question
Split nut - November 13th, 2006 at 12:28 PM

The tie rod on the driver's side of my oval has fixed ends. Can this be replaced with a later tie rod with adjustable ends? I personally can't see why not. Are they the same length?

Thanks.
Ross.

yes it can be replaced and its already the later type as Ovals all had adjustable tie rod ends and the ball joints were fitted with Grease nipples

Just make sure you get a tie rod thats the same length

I think it has an angle tie rod end as well, nein?

yes it would be an angle tie rod if its fixed tie rod ends

just make sure that the other tie rod ball joint ends are equally spaced when you get the new rod in other words you dont want the tie rods ends only hanging on by one or two threads into the rod

Does that make sense this will help with your wheel alignment also center the steering box as well B4 you have a wheel align do this by doing a turn to turn and then center the arm

hard to explain like this

the right hand inner tie rod end is angled on all of them... either fixed or threaded.
