As yet unidentified issue...

I'm about as far from a techie as you get so i'll offer this to the floor...

I have a standard 1600 in a chopped 62 and 1/2. Its far from perfect but used regularly. Its never missed a beat in the 3/4 years i've had it but recently the engine is over-revving when travelling uphill?

Say for example i'm in 3rd doing 40 mph going up a 1 in 6 gradient
I can keep the acceleration even but after a few seconds the revs increase as if the engine is being overworked, yet the car is getting no more traction (?)
If I touch the pedal it just revs more but again no more traction, once I reach the crest its fine & back to normal...

I was going to put it down to old age or the herbie in him (a mutual agreement to not attempt hills is an option)

Cheers & merry xmas

sounds like you have a worn out clutch plate

yep clutch is definatley shagged
either clutch plate is worn right down or the pressure plate aint got pressure no more

either way its an engine out jobbie

or the main seal could be leaking oil onto the clutch but u'd noticed huge pools of oil under the car everywhere u park
