Seat Belt bolts
duncombemu - May 2nd, 2003 at 10:21 PM

I own a '62 Beetle and I'm after the two large dia. bolts, with the 10mm bolt hole in the middle, that's situated half way up the 'B' pillar (the pillar just behind your head), where the seat belt is bolted into.
Can anyone help?
Regards,
Mark

I don't know of any particular companies in Tazzie, but most fastener suppliers should be able to help - if they don't seem to know exactly what you're after, make sure the bolts meet the correct specification (I think 8.8,) or your car becomes unroadworthy.

I think you're after 7/16 UNF bolts. They are (should be) specific for seat belt anchor points (so no other weaker type of bolt / thread can be used).

Most good trade supplies should stock them.

Seatbelt Bolts are special BOLTS..
When done up tight, the seatbelt can still pivot... they have a very large but thin head...

Yes 68AutoBug, this is exactly what I require.
I'll be ringing Boris at Vintage Vee Dub Supplies
on Monday to order two.
Thanks everyone.

Your after the 2 adaptor reducing bush nut / bolts arnt you
cause you have the large holes in the body work and you need to have the large OD nut / bolt with the 9/16s thread in the middle so you can fit normal seat belts.

Early VWS came with a universal seat belt mount point hole. Then you had to use a reducing bush / nut /bolt

sometimes these large holes are in the back seat / seat belt point as well as the floor pan points.

Yes Dave, that's exactly what I'm after.
Are they easy to get hold of, or is it best to get them from Vintage Vee Dub Supplies?
Thanks again Dave (and everyone else), you're a legend!!!!!

You can always try our sponsor (gratutitous plug) Micks Motors for the parts as well. I have found his prices to be excellant.
They won't cost anymore for postage from Brisvegas than from Sydney,
