Sparkplug question
Stanley - January 23rd, 2007 at 07:17 PM

The TAT turbo is not far off being fired up. With the addition of a turbo should I be running colder plugs?

Anyone got any particular suggestions?

Thanks guys and girls

Hi Andrew,
My 1775cc blower engine used one step colder than stock.

I would not be afraid to run 2 or 3 steps colder on your engine
being that it is petrol based fuel rather than methanol.

A hot plug can deteriorate if it is too hot, where-as a cold plug will at worst, foul if it is a little rich.

A modern ignition will fire cold plugs, even if they are imersed liquid,
so in that case I would go for the 9 series in NGK.

Being that you have just a stock 009, I would go for a 7 or 8 in NGK.

I am sure you will get heaps of opinions on this.

Thanks Davo, Thats what I had heard. Just wasn't sure how cold I could get away with. Will try one colder and go a B7HS.
