Positioning of 57 Oval taillights?
Flintstones - January 24th, 2007 at 10:08 PM

Hi All,

Does any one know the correct location of where the oval's taillights sit on the rear guards?

If someone has an oval can they measure there's up please and advise.

Thanks in advance
Cheers

you can make a template out of an old cereal box. set the cardboard over an old guard and make 2 flaps that meet at the "V" in the guard. then mark the mounting hole on the card. The "V" will be the refence point for marking the new holes. Will do both sides by flipping card over. did it with my 50/50 taillights on brand new guards. easy

Dubb61,

I don't have the original guards to work off as your suggesting.....otherwise I would have the tail lights on already.

57oval, any luck wit the measurements? Or any one?......

Cheers

Hi Dino

You must get this right, I have seen many otherwise great looking cars spoiled by this detail.

ok measurements for tail lights are, at the y section of the guard measure with a square 170mm l or r .Measure up 5mm from that point for lower hole of bracket. Measure 10mm down from original point for cable entry hole. Hope this helps

Yes, I have too...
even with the lights in different positions on each guard...

or too low or too high....

the lights were poistioned 2 inches higher in 1956, as thats when the towel rail bumpers were introduced into the USA...

Yeah I know, this is why I'm asking to make sure it's spot on.
