replacing transaxle mounts
phil - January 25th, 2007 at 02:33 PM

hey guys!
can anyone tell me if the trans. mounts can be replaced on a swingaxle beetle without disconnecting axles and removing transmission?
i was thinkinking it may be possible to support it all on floor jack and slip the new mounts in?

totally!....be careful not to tear the rubber axle boots when moving the trans around......engine out of course

Yes, the biggest part is taking the engine out....
just support the transaxle.....
drop the engine out...
replace the engine/gearbox mounts....

check the gearbox seal for leaks...
plus the front engine oil seal.....

put it all back together....

remember the axle boots are screwed at 90 degrees not at the top...

cheers

As You can see, My auto transaxle gearbox and axles are different to yours.
