IRS Diagonal Arm
Spellbound - February 10th, 2007 at 06:30 PM
Hey Guys..
I have an IRS pan and I am having trouble removing the diagonal arm. How do I disengage the arm from the mounting closest to the torsion beam - more
specifically, there seems to be a hex nut holding the entire assembly together :duh - what size is it? Im hoping to remove the arm to finish it off
in Rust Bullet...is there anything I need to check for or that I should pay particular attention to?

Rubber bushings are looking a bit sad so I figured remove, paint and reassmeble with new ones.

Bushes are often overlooked. Dont forget spring plate ones and shocks too. they are kind of a set.

Yea I had planned to replace the lot. Shocks are.....well...shocking :P and from what I can make out the ones within the diagonal assembly are
falling apart. Will probably cost a bit but you gotta do it right.

Keep an eye on where the big flat washers sit, on either side of the rubber bush.
I have jiggled these to get toe-in where I wanted it.

The 17mm hex also serves for gear box filler/drain, so a good thing to have in the tool box.

Thanks Klaus...I'l keep your number handy.
I now have the hex bit, all I need is a block of time to get cracking again.
