Can anyone tell me what are the symptoms of the rear engine/gearbox mounts going on a beetle! Can you check them with the engine in?

I think I might have some crud on the clutch too as I've got a bit of rough clutch just on the bite!

Any pointers much appreciated

That yr Two tone bus at Wolfsburg today ???

Go grab a jemmie bar n leaver between the cross brace and the underside of the gearbox.
It shouldnt move

Yep that was my bus at Wolfsburg. Jan is pulling the gearbox and putting a new reverse gear in there!

Its a Devon conversion that came over from the UK like me! The original owner gave it to his son in the early 70's and he drove it down through Europe, shipped across to Morocco and then he drove it down through Africa to Joburg and then shipped over here when he emigrated to Oz.

So its due a bit of TLC in the gearbox!!
