911 Fan conversion
T-34 - April 9th, 2007 at 12:18 AM

I need to source a 260mm 911 fan (complete with alternator and mounting strap) and also a 911 style shroud suitable for a Type 4 unit. Can anyone recommend a source for these in Australia?

Thanks in advance.

Mick.

Thanks for the info Ken.

Glad to see I'm not the only one on the net at this hour. :)

I'll give Mike a call next week.

Thats an early 5 blade fan - no good for my engine. but thanks for the link.

a new 12 blade fan,ring & alternator can cost $1200+
a 5 blade fan can cool a 2.9litre type 4 motor
porsche used a 5 blade fan on an early lemans car
with the later fans up to 12 blade on a vw dub motor you have to be careful with air cavitation behind the fan whichcan cause cooling problems .

I agree a 5 blade fan is ample for most engines. Just not for the one I'm building.

From memory - they were used on the early 2.7 units so can happily cool something similar.

Don't worry - I'm sure you'll find a buyer ;)

try Aporscha Parts in Melbourne they had new fan, rings & alternators for $1200 .
2nd hand alternators can be costly to fix.
Another place is Performance 9 in Melbourne.
