As far as I can recall, it is 1.5mm minimum across the whole face of the tyre including tread wear indicators and there must be no other 'damage' such as age cracks . Size doesn't matter

or do you mean width

If so i think 165 is the max. You "can" put a 185/195 on but it really bulbs. Some shops wont do it

Thanks guys, yeah, it was width of tyre, i was thinking 175/65/15, but 165 sounds a safer bet...., just noticed that the rim is actually 130mm or a smidge over 5 inches wide. thanks for prompt response
