Hi
I've just converted my 65 beetle from 6v to 12v and i am wondering which battery is used....a 6v battery or 12v battery?
None of the articles i've read say anything about running a 12v battery
cheers

12volt :thumb
a 12 volt conversion is just that.. converting everything to 12v!
12v battery included
(and you may run voltage droppers for some items that cannot be converted)

Thanks for the replies
the only thing i didn't convert is the starter and solenoid as the 12v solenoid won't fit my starter....can i add a voltage dropper to this?
i just use the 6 volt starter but then again my one is not a daily driver

thanks again
the thing is when i tried the 12v battery the starter didn't seem to like it but when i tried the 6v battery it started straight up
i'm going to try the 12v again tomorrow after a charge tonight and see how it goes
i got a 58 with 12v... and a 6v starter, spins up and kicks over every time, just don't hold it too long... if having starting probs give the starter
a rest every now and again..
when u say "the starter didnt seem to like it" what to you mean exactly?.
Starter should work fine on 12 volts. I had one on a daily for 5 years and had no problems, just spun faster !!
Ok
12v battery working fine now .....don't know what was going on
with the starter
now i gotta find out why both front blinkers aren't working.....rear ones working fine
the joys of working with electrics
