Just wondering how the gearboxes are set up to run with a mid mounted engine and who if anyone can do it in queensland?
they turn the diff around...............try one of the forum sponsors
If you want to fiddle with an old box, just remove the axle tubes and the sideplates. leave the axles in place.
Pull the diff aseembly out and replace it from the other side.
Swap over and refit the sideplates and the axle tubes.
In essence, thats it. Takes all of an hour if the box is out.
Of course, the diff teeth mesh should be re-set in case the machining of the diff case is not exact on both sides but you can just flick the diff over
and take a chance if you dont care much.
I have done this and that box/diff served its purpose well in a Formula Vee and made no noise!

Reversing the diff in the gearbox can only be done with swing axle gearboxes.
If you want to do it with an IRS gearbox you will need to turn the gearbox upside down, but then you would need an adapter plate. Oil changes become a
problem as there is no drain plug where you want it to be and the filler plug is in the wrong place.
