Should a '65 Notch swingaxle transmission have a selector shaft seal? Mine has a bush (no slop in shaft) but there is no cup for the seal to sit in. Has the cup section broken off and been removed or did the early transmissions not have the external seal, if so can I retro fit the bush with the seal cup.

Early trannys had no seal.
You can swap the nose cone to a later one if you want a bush with seal.

I think they shortened the hsg when they added a seal,
so it may be too long if you fit the bush with seal holder, to an early nose cone.

Rocky Jennings makes a kit to adapt a seal but I am sure you could have made,
or make one your self.
