Non vw rag top in a beetle?
ringoschariot - May 8th, 2007 at 07:04 PM

Theres been a lot of discussion on here recently about golde ragtops and the like.

My question is could a webasto or britax folding sunroof be made to fit a beetle?

There are heaps of these on ebay that have come off MGB's and Triumphs at a quarter of the price of a Golde.

If the dimensions are correct what could be a potential problem fitting one of these?

cheers

my beetle has a britax roof in it at the mo....
i believe britax made them for beetles at some stage.
from what i have heard they are not as good as golde ones.

they are always available on the U.K ebay and the USA.

I know britax made them for beetles but the chances of getting a specific one for a beetle are very slim.

Could one for an MGB fit or be made to fit?

The MGB GT hardtop had a folding sliding sunroof in some models as did the Triumph GT6 ( hardtop Spitfire shape) I think these were aftermarket, if that is the case they would likely be Webasto or Britax and sizewise would be almost certainly to be able to be fitted to a VW , (with a mild Q? regarding roof curvature) the only way to find out any details for sure would be to post the questions on the Triumph and MG sites I reckon.
