Engine combo - Oval Historic Racer

Yep I know this is different to the usual thought patterns but I have been contemplating for a while building a Group Na Historic racer out of an oval - which means it is 1958 or earlier and for a logbooked car it will have to run a 1200 - so the likes of stroker motors aren't allowed not even a twin port.

So what are your thoughts as to mods, I just sold my Formula Vee and have a spare tidy Vee motor, which I was contemplating fitting twin solex's and doing some exhaust work.

Anyone got some old school advice ?

Depending on the exact rules, you may be able to get away with running a shorter stroke and bigger bore, while still being 1200cc, will allow it to rev and also get a bit more power.......

1400 kit! Use the Vee motor and just modify the manifold more(Vee rules won't allow it) Make a step key for the cam to advance the cam timing a couple of degrees. Or if you can get the twin solex set use them. Guy harding had a set on his Targa car and they complied with cams rules.

Good Vee motor puts out 60+ hp atw. add 1400 kit for a bit more torque and if you can get some solex's could be nice indeed.
